Writing store copy that survives the embed
A package description that reads well on your storefront does not automatically read well in Discord. Three rules cover most of the gap.
Rule one
Front-load the first 350 characters
Discord folds the description behind a read-more on mobile at roughly that point. Whatever earns the click has to land in the first two lines. Scene-setting before the actual features means the features are behind the fold.
Rule two
Stay under 600 characters
Past that the announcement is truncated, and a long description pushes the price and the button off the first screen. /tebex health flags both ends of this: under 40 characters and over 600.
It is a band rather than a floor on purpose. A wall of marketing copy makes a worse card than a thin one.
Rule three
Format against /tebex preview, not the Tebex editor
Tebex serves descriptions as HTML and VendFeed flattens them. Paragraphs and list items become line breaks and bullets, and everything else is dropped. The editor’s own character count includes markup the embed never carries, so it reads long.
The preview is what the announcement will actually look like, and it is private, so nobody sees the drafts.
A worked shape
- One sentence saying what the buyer gets.
- Three to five bullets, one benefit each, shortest first.
- Any caveat last, where truncation costs you least.
That is roughly the example on the right: a lead sentence, then the list, well inside 600 characters after flattening.
